4. Network Security Problems

I never said, ``I want to be alone.'' I only said, ``I want to be left alone.'' There is all the difference - Greta Garbo
This chapter steps us out of the host realm and introduces us to the network. Security problems in networks are explored in both a theoretical and a practical sense. The concepts are discussed in the theoretical section and applied in the practical section. The theoretical section begins with an introduction to networking concepts which are needed in the understanding of security problems that exist on the network. The networking concepts section is followed by a discussion on the different types of network security. The section introduces the concepts of internal and external security. The rest of the section and chapter is a discussion of the network security problems and practical ways of exploiting the problems.
