I don't trust him. We're friends. - Bertolt Brecht (1898-1956)The hacker has become one of the most feared entities on the Internet. This chapter takes a look at the hacker, the reasons he hacks and his ethics. We continue to have a look at the traditional roles of the systems administrator. We show how he can no longer adequately protect his network by only focussing on resolving problems when they arise. We then suggest a person part hacker and part system administrator; the syshackadminer. We discuss his attitudes and his roles. We conclude the chapter with a summary.
